Do transparent labels work for barcodes?

Yes, as long as you add a solid white base under the barcode. Barcodes and QR codes need strong contrast to scan, and a clear label alone doesn't give that.

Barcodes on clear labels

Barcodes and QR codes need high contrast to scan properly. On clear labels, the packaging shows through, so the background behind the code changes from product to product.

Add a white base

We strongly recommend a solid white layer behind the barcode area. The black lines then show clearly on any packaging color. Without the white backing, scanning can be unreliable.

You can set this up directly in the editor when you prepare your design. See how to create white layers.
