Are the stickers weather-resistant, and what does that mean?

Yes, most of our stickers are weather-resistant: they handle rain, sun, snow, dishwashers and microwaves. Exceptions are kraft paper and wall stickers, which are for indoor use.

What weather-resistant means

Most of our stickers are weather-resistant. They handle rain, sunlight, snow, dishwashers and microwaves. Weather-resistant means they hold up under normal conditions, but they are not immune to extreme or long-term stress.

What it covers

A weather-resistant sticker:

  • handles normal outdoor conditions

  • tolerates moisture, rain and snow

  • resists fading in sunlight for a long time

  • holds up in washing, including dishwashers

  • keeps its adhesive grip across a wide temperature range

Very high temperatures, constant sun or long periods under water can over time affect the colors, the adhesive or the laminate. That is why we don't use the word weatherproof: no sticker can be guaranteed against every condition.

Glossy laminate: the most protection

  • Strong water resistance

  • More UV protection

  • Holds up in dishwashers and microwaves

  • Outdoors: 2 to 4 years, depending on exposure

  • Indoors: much longer

Glossy laminated stickers suit most outdoor uses, such as vehicles, equipment labels and signs. A few specialty materials have limits on cars.

Matte laminate: a little less UV protection

  • Water-resistant

  • Moderate UV resistance

  • Fades sooner in constant direct sun

  • For indoor and light outdoor use

Not weather-resistant

  • Kraft paper. Kraft Paper Stickers are uncoated, not water-resistant and meant for indoor or dry use.

  • Wall stickers. Wall stickers are uncoated and made for indoor walls. They have limited scratch resistance and little UV protection, and don't suit outdoor or humid places.

Apply for the longest life

  • Apply on clean, dry surfaces.

  • Apply at a moderate temperature, not very cold or very hot.

  • Avoid trapping air bubbles, dust or moisture under the sticker.

Removing residue

Window cleaner, rubbing alcohol or a mild household cleaner removes leftover adhesive without damaging the surface. See How can I remove stickers without leaving residue?.
