Does the finish affect how a label applies to packaging?

It can. Most laminate finishes work well for labels applied by hand or by machine, but some applications need a specific material or finish.

Finish and application

In most cases, laminated labels apply smoothly to packaging and work with standard labeling equipment. Label finishes are thinner and more flexible than sticker finishes, so labels can follow containers and packaging.

Machine application

If your products are labeled on high-speed automated machines, the finish matters more. The label has to stay flexible enough to follow curved surfaces and edges without lifting or wrinkling.

Very thick materials or special finishes can affect how labels feed through dispensers and applicators. If you use automated labeling equipment, check compatibility with us before you order. Labels on Roll are made for machines and dispensers.
