How stickers can be a gesture

Stickers are the perfect gift. You can give sparkles, a message, and best of all: the recipient gets to decide where they like it most. For me, they've also become a way to give back to the community that has supported my work over the years.

Hi!

I'm Cosmo, also known as @cosmoillustrator - and yes, it's my real name. I'm an illustrator based in Le Havre, France, and stickers are my number one strategy to give back to my community.

Cosmo, Community Author.

Connecting through illustration

I've been an illustrator for about 7 years now. I feel incredibly lucky to make a living with my drawings. I feel privileged to have worked for brands I love like Miu Miu or Hermès. But most of all, I feel grateful for all the strangers that truly helped me get here by connecting with my work on instagram. It's a game changer to have such a strong, supportive community.

Over the years I've exchanged with people from all over the world, because they could relate to my illustrations. Most of them carry a phrase, often cynical or sarcastic, and allow me to convey not only a message, but a mood, thanks to drawing.

When words and images meet

I almost feel like an image can't suffice – neither can a sentence. They have to support each other to be great. Even as a child, all my drawings carried a word or a name. That's why I love being an illustrator, and why I feel it's a real calling.

I need images to be meaningful. That obviously allowed me to connect better with the people who look at my work. You can love it or hate it, but it's talking to you.

Giving back with stickers

In this digital era, I felt like I wanted a tangible way to thank my community. So in 2024 or so, I reached out to StickerApp and asked if they could follow me on a crazy idea: send free stickers to people out there who have supported me on social media.

And being the amazing innovative company that they are (I truly mean that), they said yes.

So we worked on a few designs, and I picked 5 people that were very active in my comment sections (or DMs on Insta, that shared my work in stories, etc.) every month and asked their home address so I could send a little package of stickers. I did it for about two years & sent more than 150 packages all over the globe!

I've stopped in 2026 because the geopolitical situation made it complicated (tariffs, customs and a lot of lost packages), but I hope to do it again in the future.

A little sparkle goes a long way

As I regularly collaborate with StickerApp, I have tried a lot of materials and effects over the years, and I have to say Pixie Dust is my ultimate favorite. I like the idea of giving something that's shiny and sparkly.

I always carry with me a pouch full of them in my handbag, and I give them all the time to people who come to me and say they like my work, to friends, to clients, to a waiter or waitress as a complementary tip...

I think they're a nice gesture in a world where less and less is staying truly free. People can look at it and remember there is still kindness somewhere in this universe.

Stickers are trendy, but kindness is trendier

At first, my husband didn't understand, and was skeptical of the reaction when the person didn't specifically fit the profile he expected to connect with my work. And honestly, it's always a hit!

People tell me instantly where they're going to stick it or who they're going to give it to, and it makes me feel like Santa Claus, so everyone's happy.
